Great kuey teow basah Smile Apr 18, 2012

If you ever thought to try out this place, stop thinking and just go try it. Just a small little shack in the middle of the road, don't let it fool you though; they serve one of the best kuey teow basah I've ever tasted. It's really delicious, great flavour and remember to order at least a big one; the portion is pretty big. Overall, the whole dish was satisfying.

If you have a group to eat with, you should definitely give this place a try. Ordering and sharing dishes is certainly a great time with friends and family. They have the usual chinese dishes but my favourite would certainly be their butter dishes, more specifically their butter prawns and chicken. If my memory does not fail me, they didn't serve butter chicken in the beginning but after a little persistence on our part, they decided to cook up our order.

It turned out very good, it was sweet and extremely delicious. Their butter prawns is also a great dish, definitely order at least one of them when you try this place out.

Great food at affordable prices Smile Apr 18, 2012

I usually eat their nasi kandar for supper. Their fish head curry is very delicious with great flavour and sweetness and their chicken cooked with sweet soy sauce and onions are also a great choice. The sweet onions goes very well with the chicken. I sometimes have their rotis for breakfast, their dahl curry however is a little watery and with still crunchy dahl floating in it and wasn't to my liking.

Hold the salt OK Apr 18, 2012

A sudden craving for pasta made me try this rustic Italian restaurant. I had the Linguine Con Vongole (clams) in bianco (means without tomatoes). The linguine was cooked just right, it wasn't soft, wasn't hard but just right. The taste however was just too salty, just a little too much for my palette but the clams were flavourful and pretty sweet so at least there was something good about the dish but overall it was a little disappointing.

I didn't try anything else and I have heard good things about Mario's, they have a thin crust pizza that I would like to try some time.

Just stick with their nasi kukus OK Mar 30, 2012

Categories : Malay | Restaurant | Noodles

Hayaki is famous for their nasi kukus ayam, but I decided to try their nasi ulam the other day. Ulam is pretty much a malay style salad, they use raw vegetables like cucumbers and petai and serve it with a spicy condiment and white rice and half of a salted egg.

The condiment was pretty good but it might be too spicy for some so proceed with caution. The only thing I would complain about is they gave very little of the vegetables. If I remembered correctly, I only got 3 petais, 4 short sticks of cucumber and a couple more vegetables. For the price I paid, I should have just gone with their nasi kukus, it was actually more expensive.
