Peri peri meal Smile Oct 06, 2013

The Nando’s is popular with the peri sauce and their legendary Peri-Peri Flame-Grilled Chicken with serious measures taken to strike a balance between the convenience of enjoying great delicious chicken and the importance of good nutrition that goes with each bite. The quater chicken with 3 sidelines cost RM 19.90 and sidelines of your choices may be selected accordingly to your preference. Mine is obviously the spinach, grilled vege and a Portuguese butter roll.
Apart from chicken and salads, there is chicken burger with any choice of one sideline. Even though I don’t recommend the chicken burger combo (RM 17.90), the corn was deliciously sweet and juicy. This other ther interesting side which I recall is the Chicken Liver and Portuguese Roll at RM 10.90. Excite your palate with that appetizing peri sauce with soft chicken liver. Which I tried ordering but was not available here.
The ice lemon tea is a free flow which priced at RM 5.90, and unless sharing, it is still pricey if you don’t drink much during meals. They probably cater for the extra hot peri flavour.

Mille crepe cake Smile Oct 05, 2013

Categories : Western variety | Sweets/Snack | Bakery / Cake / Kuih

The famous mile crepe that has been rooted in Melaka since years back blossomed to the many branches within Melaka town itself, as well as the recent one in Petaling Jaya. It has became a must visit stop on the list of foodies when they step foot in Melaka. Fortunate for the people in Melaka, they get to enjoy theses amazing layer crepe slices whenever they feel like it. The Nadeje also sell few dishes for the main course but that really arent their forte, rather the cakes were the ones that is selling really good. The branch within the Mahkota Parade shopping mall (the one right across the dataran pahlawan shopping mall) is chic and comfortable to lounge with their alluring couches and comfy pillows. The seating and the interior of this place is very comfortable and suitable for casual meals amongst family and friends. The surrounding at this place is relatively decent and clean. Somewhat clean and comfortably pleasant, this is a good place to dine. To some extend I must say that cleanliness and the appearance of the shop plays quite a crucial role in keeping their customers happy and returning.

Spicy chicken wing Cry Sep 29, 2013

Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Burgers / Sandwiches | Halal

I have mentioned this before that Melaka is a very small town with all the friendly and nicest people you will ever meet. The good food in Melaka is almost everywhere in every corner of very back alley and street you can ever explore. Having said this, the younger generations somehow prefers having fast food every now and then, probably due to the accessibility, the ambience that is suitable for family leisure and a great place to hang with school mates and fellow friends. One thing for sure, they all make sufficiently good landmarks whenever giving out any directions or looking for one. I have said that about the Ayer Keroh Kentucky Fried Chicken drive through is one of which that is awesome when it comes to being a landmark and good place to hang. One that shares a roof with pizza hut restaurant, this drive through is hard to be missed by any passerby along the road. Located along the main road from ayer keroh, the drive through also operates 24 hours a day, making them one of the few in the state to operate all day and night long. Another 24 hours operating outlet would be the outlet within the overbridge along the north south highway. Apart from drivers, the locals living around that neighbourhood visits this outlet often enough to keep it sustaining.

Their usual signature dishes are always consistently good but having said that, it really also depends on the particular outlet. This one here manage to deliver decent and good mashed potato and coleslaw. The spicy chicken wing on the other hand was horrible and I highly suspect it was re fried twice at least. The chicken was really dry and bland while the batter was disappointingly boring and dull. Not to mention the chicken really didn't taste any bit fresh at all.

Categories : Asian Variety | Food court

If you are looking for assortment of local food and authentic local dishes, the newton food court is one of the best of the many food courts in Melaka in terms of availability of varieties. value of money wise can be rather subjective and dependent on what is being ordered. The range is wide, from assortment of rice to noodles, and congee to seafood. Some of the widest range you can think of from braising to deep frying, and boiling to grilling. You name it and they probably have it. There is fried rice and noodles, rice and ala carte dishes, porridges, and assorted noodles like char kuey tiau, hokkien mee, wan tan mee, hor fun and many more. Grill fish is a must when travelling Melaka or when hunting for Melaka food. Portuguese grill fishes here are the closest to authentic Portuguese style, so chances are really high that the grill fish stall is everywhere in any hawker center or food court you can possibly find. Instead of the usual Portuguese grill fish, I decided to go with the fried cincaru which caught my attention when I see many people ordering it. Turns out, the only great thing about this is the freshness of the fish. The frying is really ordinary but the fish was remarkably fresh and juicy.

Ochado drinks and crepe slice OK Sep 16, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Café | Stall / Warung | Juices / Bubble Tea / Tea / Yogurt

Melaka is popular and probably well known for the tourism and the jonker street. The Ochado is making a comfy position to be located at the Jonker street itself.

The love for milk tea but disliking the pearls would mean that the solution is either omitting the pearls or having the ochado pop eggs. The coffee pop bubble gave the bursting kick of coffee sensation on top of smooth and mild milk tea.

I also tried the aloe vera honey tea which honestly did not impress me much. Tasted pretty ordinary and underwhelming given there are so much other choices that are so much tastier and more exotic and unique of its kind.

There are so many out there and the pioneer chatime which brand it so well and big in Malaysia already is probably their foremost first competitor. My favourite is definitely the matcha green tea. Mildly sweet and slightly bitterly refreshing, the addition of ice to this drink is almost close to fabulous. Since the first trial of the mango mille crepe cake in kepong branch, I decided to order again and try it one more time because the first trial did not quite do them justice. This time around, I tried the chocolate mille crepe. Slightly better than the first but I would love to explore more on my next visit.
