Nasi Goreng Kampung Smile Jul 26, 2012   (Related Review)

Like all Asians, we tend to have rice for almost every meal. For an Asian touch, the Nasi Goreng Kampung is the one for you. Served with pappadam, cucumber pickles, sunny side up and two big deep fried prawns, the fried rice is flavourful with a hint of spiciness among chicken meat and kangkung while the anchovies gives a burst of saltiness here and there. It is quite a balanced meal with meat and vegetables thrown in together.

Meatballs Smile Jul 26, 2012   (Related Review)

I’m sure everyone has tried the meatballs at Ikea Café. It is superb. The meatballs are moist and juicy. It is also flavourful in every bite. Although it exudes a little gamy and beefy flavour but it is easily masked with the thick and savoury milky gravy with the right amount of saltines, just the way I like it. It is just right eating on its own without having the jam. The thick cut fries are good to the texture too and I usually soak it up with the gravy. I wouldn’t want to let a drop of the delish gravy to waste!

All Day Breakfast Smile Jul 26, 2012   (Related Review)

Over here at New York New York Deli, it serves All Day Breakfast. Seeing a good big plate of breakfast makes one a very delightful person. No wonder they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it really determines the mood of the person. The breakfast includes of pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, mushroom and baked beans. I like the creamy scrambled eggs. The pancakes are good too where it gives a fresh feeling instead of having the old boring toasts with its smooth and fragrant pan-fried aroma. The mushroom with sauce is quite special where it exudes a savoury yet sweet taste to it and it’s full of mushroomy goodness.

If rice is your middle name, have the Char Siew and Siew Yuk Onion Rice with Minced Pork and Mushrooms. This is the perfect combination where you have all the best of the barbeque section plus the minced pork and mushrooms and onion rice! The rice is fragrant while not oily and the minced pork and mushrooms gives out a good balance of saltiness and mushroomy flavour. Need we say more about the Char Siew and Siew Yuk? A divine treat with the right saltiness and sweetness with a slightly charring flavour! I liked how the siew yuk’s fatty layers melts in the mouth. I know it’s unhealthy but a little bit of that won’t kill. I was told that they prepared their poultry freshly daily, which is quite a feat.

Xiao Long Bao Smile Jul 26, 2012   (Related Review)

Indulge in the many choices of steaming dim sum available all day long. It wouldn't be a dim sum fare without the famous Xiao Long Bao. According to the chef from the dim sum section, who hails from Guangdong China, he uses traditional method to make the bun, just like those in Hong Kong with natural flavours as well. So what we have here is the authentic style and taste of the Xiao Long Bao with flavoursome sweet with a hint of saltiness soup wrapped in a thin layer of dim sum skin with minced pork. The size of the dumplings is just right and each dumpling is proportioned carefully. I did not come across any dumpling having more filling and soup than the other. Be careful not to poke your chopsticks in it too hard or else you would lose out its soup- the essence of the tiny buns.
