porkilicious lunch! OK Mar 20, 2016
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam | Noodles

This makan place was packed to the brim with people during lunch time and curiousity had led me to try it out!

I ordered a bowl of pork noodles without the innards as I don't usually eat them.

That bowl of noodles was nothing amazing and the saving grace to it was the smooth, sikly hor fun. The pork balls were chewy in texture but it was nothing fantastic either.

It was nothing compared to the famous ss15 pork noodles, back in my college days.

Desserts fare OK Mar 20, 2016

A visit to the Ben's Independent Grocer is never complete without my dessert affair at the Ben's Bake Shop.

The bake shop offer a variety of baked goods on display as well as signature plated desserts such as churros, toasts and klonuts.

Upon glancing through the menu and the displayed goods, I made up my mind and decided to have the cheesecake donuts and gula melaka friand.

Friands are basically small french cake, and this one here had an Asian twist to it. The use of gula melaka and coconut in bringing a richer flavor to the friands. It had a nice crisp texture on the exterior while light and fluffy on the inside.

It goes well with a cup of tea, in my opinion.

On the other hand, the cheesecake donut is actually creamy cheese fillings stuffed in plain donuts. It was neither too sweet nor cloying. I felt that it could lend some caramel sauce to complete it.

cake affair! OK Mar 19, 2016

Tray Cafe has been known to offer a variety of cakes, pastries and hot foods. Often times, you will be indecisive in making the final choice because all the cakes looked equally good.

I decided to drop by to satisfy my sweet tooth and here, I had the chocolate cake with cookie crumbs and caramel sauce.

The cake was not overly too sweet.

I like that the chocolate cake was made of dark chocolate,so it went well with the sweet caramel sauce. The cookie crumbs also adds a crunch to the cake.

The whole combination was sinful but it was worth every calories ingested! Don't miss their cakes when you are here.

friday coffee fix! Smile Mar 19, 2016

The coffee scene around Bukit Jalil has been growing stronger ever since the year of 2014.
Other cafes such as Butter And Beans, The Hub, Peekaboo Cafe has all joined the bandwagon and most actually mushroomed around the same area.

This isn't my first time visiting Fishee Coffee and my cravings for their good ol' classic waffles has brought me here.

I don't like my waffle, with too much details and toppings. So I prefer mine plain and the game-changer in this delightful creation are the Australian butter and honey used.

The waffles were crispy but it was slightly too charred which had led me down. The combination brings about the taste of my childhood cereal, cornflakes. Aside from waffles and cakes, Fishee Cafe also serves toasts and hot food too.

Knowing that the weather was blistering hot, I decided to have something cold, so I went for the Fresh Red which is a combination of Red Espresso and Apple Juice. It was a refreshing drink to have on a heaty day. Pretty addictive too! It was sweet and fragrant.

RedEspresso is a freshly made premium espresso grounded Rooibos tea.

hainanese lunch fare! OK Mar 16, 2016   (Related Review)

I liked how their food was unpretentious. This is the definition of simple food which satisfies the soul.

Bakeri Joy does not only bake cake, pastries and cookies, they have a hot kitchen which whips up authentic and decent Hainanese hot food such as toasts, noodles and nasi lemak.

After looking through the menu, I decided to have the the Hainanese thick toast and Nyonya Mee, which is basically a plate of simple hearty noodles topped off with strips of egg, chilli, lettuce, finished off with a squeeze of lime juice, and there you have it, a wholesome addictive meal.

Moving on, their Hainanese toasts are perfectly toasted with a good crunch on the outside and the kaya butter spread was aromatic and fragrant. It was neither too sweet nor oily.
I liked this rendition of toasts, even better with half boiled eggs.
