Spaghetti @ Tapis Rounge OK May 08, 2012

Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Bar & Pub | Pizza/Pasta | Burgers / Sandwiches

The place was quite nice and it looks like fine dining setting. The place was quiet when we arrived there around 1.30pm. I guess there will be crowd at night. That is why my mom's friend recommended here since they are having 50% discounts for selected food during lunch hour only.

Penne Chicken-RM23.90
Pasta tossed with chicken fillet in a mildly spiced Tomato reduction.
The tomato paste taste very nice but the pasta were a bit tough. Just a bit disappointed with the pasta.

Chicken Cabonara-RM23.90
Spaghetti with chicken in cream cheese sauce
This dish is used to be "Spaghetti with smoked duck in cream cheese sauce", they have replace the duck to chicken now. I guess duck meat is more expensive. The taste was not bad, very creamy with a few pieces of chicken meat. The potion was not very big, just enough for 1 person.

Spending per head: Approximately RM25

I always love this place for hang out with my friend whenever I go back Penang. This has become one of my usual hang out place for beer. Best Germany's Beer I can find in Penang Island with reasonable price.

There are two outlets in Penang Island, one is in Strait Quay and another one is near Queensbay Mall. The place not really big but you can see it is always packed.

Blackthorn cider-RM21.00 (0.5L), RM12.00 (0.3L)
It contained of fruits juice and very strong alcoholic smell plus a bit sour. If you like fruit beer, you will definitely love it very much. Not all outlet have it. Have to check it yourself.

German Sausage Platter-RM 25.90
A mix sausages with dipping sauce 3 sausages, I all of them especially the one placed in the middle from the above photos, not sure what is it name, It is the best snack to go with the beer.

German Pork Knuckle-RM43 (whole), RM25 ( 1/2 potion)
The most special one in the restaurant! We ordered the whole size and asked the kitchen to chop into small pieces. It is the best from all the dishes we have ordered that day. It is so crispy on the outside and juicy and tender in the inside. It is best to dip into the onion sauce. Totally Must Try! Look at the price, you will be surprise. The potion is enough for 5 people plus other orders.

Recommended Dish(es):  German Pork Knuckle,Blackthorn cider

Spending per head: Approximately RM35(宵夜)

Western Food @ Kaffa Cafe Smile Jun 12, 2012

Kaffa Cafe at China Street is the one I am going to introduce to you. They have another outlet in Strait Quay. Anyway, Kaffa cafe @ China Street is exactly at the T Junction facing the famous Goddess of Mercy Temple (Kuan Yin Teng) in Penang.

Mushroom Chicken-RM13.90
It comes with Mushroom Sauce, French fries and Mix Lettuce. The Mushroom Sauce was thick with lots of small slices of mushroom pour over the whole grilled chicken thigh. The grilled chicken was juicy inside and totally well cooked. The mushroom sauce was simply splendid! Must Try!

Chicken Marinara-RM13.90
The Chicken Marinara comes with Mozzarella Cheese, French Fries and Mix Lettuce. This chicken chop looks special to me. Red tomato paste on top of chicken chop. Normally what I see is those Chicken Maryland type but this taste great too. Everyone loved it, it seem you never know if you never try. The chicken was well cooked and the meat was tender and juicy. Great job chef! Must try!

If you live nearby OUG, you would know of the famous Thomas Western Food. For the others, its a great place to try out some cheap western food. By "Cheap" here, it is priced around RM10 which I wouldn't exactly call the cheapest hawker western food. But for the ingredients and the types of food that they offer, I'd say its not bad at all. It is a good place to have dinner if you're here for the OUG pasar malam every thursday night.

This is the normal Chicken Chop, the standard dish to try for many people. It tastes not bad, some regular grilled chicken and brown gravy. But I like the mashed potatoes most of all, which can't be found in many hawker western food.

Our second dish is the Maryland Chicken. Crisp and crunchy chicken fillet with some brown gravy, french fries & vegetables. Also another one to try definitely.

Other menu items I would recommend is the mix grill, which combines one piece of fish, chicken and lamb chop together. I'll be back to try that in my next visit...

San Francisco Coffee KLCC Smile May 16, 2012

I got a great voucher from my company that entitles me for one additional free item of equivalent value at San Francisco coffee, so I just had to try it out during lunch time.

[
IMG:1]Extreme Mocha - RM15 (Large)
Frisco Frape Chocolate - RM13 (Large)

We ordered an Extreme Mocha and a Frisco Frape Chocolate. Naturally they charged for the item with the higher price and with government tax, the total comes to RM16.45.

First impression, we like the drinks very much. The chocolate drink may be a little too sweet for some but for me its okay. I also like the Mocha even though I'm not a coffee lover. It is slightly bitter and I can taste that it is much more fragrant than starbucks coffee. Overall, I prefer San Francisco Coffee over Starbucks, but the price may be a little on the high side.
