Curry Laksa Cry Jul 30, 2012

Curry Mee

Curry Mee

I find the Curry Laksa at this restaurant could be better. The curry gravy is a bit too thin and watery, as I like my curry a bit thicker and with creamier taste. The gravy was quite spicy for someone with low tolerance for spicy food. The dish came with crispy pork pieces, tau kwa, brinjals and french beans. I find the brinjal and beans too hard and the raw taste was still there. The pork pieces tasted a bit fat and funny taste.

Overall I have had better curry laksa.

Chicken Sandwich  Cry Jul 28, 2012   (Related Review)

When you walk into this cafe, you will be transported into the world of Charlie Brown and his friends. Every available space other than the dining area is chock full of the cartoon character. From wall hangings to exhibits and merchandise, it will make fans of the famous character go gaga over it.

The chicken sandwich which I ordered was just normal. The chicken was cold and the only thing that was good about it was the coleslaw which was served with sprinkles of raisins. The coleslaw dressing was creamy and saved an otherwise average sandwich. The sandwich also came with servings of potato chips. The bread was a bit hard and it does make the sandwich even worse. Will come back for the ambience more than the food.

Assam Laksa Cry Jul 25, 2012

Assam Laksa

Assam Laksa

Been a fan of assam laksa especially the Penang version so decided to try the one in Penang Village.

As in all assam laksa, it came with flaked mackerel. Other ingredients include lemongrass, lengkuas, chilli, mint, pineapple slices, thinly sliced onion and prawn paste. But I find their version a bit too watery and the soup was a tad too sourish, maybe they went wild with the use of tamarind. And the dish manages to look pathetic as the ingredients were drowned in the large bowl of soup. Somehow presentation does play a big part in food business although many dishes can be saved if it tasted great. I have had better assam laksa.

Red Velvet Cupcake OK Aug 17, 2012   (Related Review)

I find the red velvet cake at this cafe just average as it was a bit too sweet for my taste. The cheese filling was a little dry and could do with more moist texture. The red velvet filling was just sparingly distributed and I prefer more of that as it has a really nice flavour. The size of the cupcake is not too big and is good for a light snack.

Delicious has quite a good range of desserts in their high tea and is worth a try.

Finger Sandwiches and Cheesecake OK Aug 17, 2012

Assortment of Finger Sandwiches and cake

I tried the High Tea platter at Delicious Cafe which has a few items worth mentioning. For the cake option, I ordered the butterscotch pecan cheese cake. This is rich and dense and has pecan nuts as topping. I love the rich cheese filling which was moist and sweetness level is bearable.

The finger sandwiches were caviar and egg filling which was sufficient to bind the bread together and not too dry. Caviar tasted a bit salty which gave some flavour to the sandwich. Overall very tasty.
