Spaghetti @ Tapis Rounge OK May 08, 2012
Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Bar & Pub | Pizza/Pasta | Burgers / Sandwiches

The place was quite nice and it looks like fine dining setting. The place was quiet when we arrived there around 1.30pm. I guess there will be crowd at night. That is why my mom's friend recommended here since they are having 50% discounts for selected food during lunch hour only.

Penne Chicken-RM23.90
Pasta tossed with chicken fillet in a mildly spiced Tomato reduction.
The tomato paste taste very nice but the pasta were a bit tough. Just a bit disappointed with the pasta.

Chicken Cabonara-RM23.90
Spaghetti with chicken in cream cheese sauce
This dish is used to be "Spaghetti with smoked duck in cream cheese sauce", they have replace the duck to chicken now. I guess duck meat is more expensive. The taste was not bad, very creamy with a few pieces of chicken meat. The potion was not very big, just enough for 1 person.

Japanese Fast Food @ Senya KLCC Smile May 08, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Stall / Warung | Seafood

Senya Dining’s concept is quite special. You can choose to buy the bento or sushi items being displayed and take away to be eaten elsewhere; they also offer to heat up your food in the microwave when you pay for it. Otherwise, you can choose to order the menu items and eat your food there. There are not a lot of seats for customers, and most of the tables are small, so it may be

Chicken Katsu Curry Set – RM18.80
The curry tastes nice and hot, not too spicy, but it doesn’t have Potato and Carrots which I think the usual Japanese curry should have. They are not stingy on the portion either, the bowl of donburi is very HUGE and they give a lot of rice, too much for me to finish. On top of that, the two pieces of sushi are quite big and I can’t finish all of them. The salad is not to my liking as they use a wasabi sauce that tastes exactly like Japanese soya sauce + wasabi! It is not too spicy though, but I just cannot accept it as this is the first time I taste this kind of sauce.

Chicken Karaage Set – RM18.80
My friend ordered the Chicken Karaage set, and there’s only one word I can say…. Great! The fried chicken is crunchy, top of with special sauce and sesame seeds, and it tastes better than my Chicken Katsu. They also give many pieces of chicken as you can see in the picture and all of them are meat from the chicken drumstick or thigh parts.

Restoran Yong Len

Restoran Yong Len

This is a restaurant where my family has been buying food from ever since I was born. Yes, literally, for more than 25 years the stall owners have much or less remained the same and they are like our next door neighbours. The place had a humble start and was not very famous back then, but still the food was great and we kept coming back even though we have shifted our house to a place that's quite far from here.

Nowadays, Yong Len is absolutely packed throughout the mornings until the afternoon, especially the weekends. Many residents in Taman Tun eat their breakfast here after a morning walk at the nearby parks. And we can see why this is the case below...
Char Kuay Teow

Char Kuay Teow

Fried Kueh Teow - Big: RM 5.00 / Small: RM4.30
The Char Kuay Teow here is one of my favourites. You may need to wait a while for the food but I think it is worth it. The flavour is overall very balanced, not too oily, and you can especially taste all the ingredients that are freshly fried from the wok.
Curry Mee

Curry Mee

Curry Mee - Big: RM6.00 / Small: RM5.00
Yong Len's curry mee is my absolute favourite curry mee of all. The soup tastes great and I normally like to add all the chili and make it tastes even spicier. Although it may be pricey, but they do not skimp on the ingredients, therefore I would order curry mee 8 out of ten times when I come to Yong Len. The stall also sells Pork Noodle (Big: RM5.00 / Small: RM4.30) and Yee Mee (Big: RM6.00 / Small: RM 5.00)
Prawn Mee

Prawn Mee

Prawn Mee - Big: RM5.00 / Small: RM4.30
The prawn mee is also another highlight of Yong Len. It is quite famous and I do see many people order prawn mee. Personally, I prefer curry mee over prawn mee, but I also like this stall's prawn mee very much. My friend however mentioned that there is no hard boiled egg in the prawn mee, which still makes it "incomplete". Maybe it might be that they forgot to add, or it might be that the small portion doesn't include eggs. I'll be sure to ask next time we come back.

Overall, Yong Len is a great place to take away food, and if you don't mind waiting for a table it is sure worth it to savor every dish the restaurant has to offer.

Dinner at Tony Roma's Smile May 05, 2012
Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Steaks / Chops | Seafood

We went to Tony Roma's in Mid Valley recently, it is located at lower ground floor in the old wing, near to KFC. We've been hearing many good things about this place yet we never seem to have the chance to try it out until today... So let's see what food they have to offer...

First impression of the restaurant: it is a typical American restaurant much like Chilies and TGI Fridays, and the servers are much or less trained to make you feel at home.
Complimentary Bread

Complimentary Bread

After taking our order, a piece of complimentary bread was served, which comes with garlic butter. The bread is quite hard I would say, but when eaten together with the butter spread it tastes really good. Just be sure don't bite the raw garlic.. like what I did.
Cranberry Juice

Cranberry Juice

Bottomless Juice: Cranberry - RM8.90

I ordered the Cranberry Juice, and it tastes very sour, not very nice. We then subsequently asked to refill with Orange Juice and it tastes great!
Potato Skins

Potato Skins

Potato Skins - RM14.90

We ordered a serving of Potato Skins served with sour cream, it is very good. Crunchy and juicy, but the sour cream could be much more sour i think, right now it tastes like regular cream only.
Shrimp Scampi Pasta

Shrimp Scampi Pasta

Shrimp Scampi Pasta - RM31.90

My main dish is the Shrimp Scampi Pasta, and its loaded with lots and lots of big shrimp. It tastes unlike your regular red sauce pasta, as it was added with garlic, fresh basil, tomato and a hint of chipotle. It tastes good at first, but as the portion was very, very huge it starts to get abit weary after a while. I guess this pasta would be good when shared between two persons.

Japanese Buffet @ Umaiya OK May 03, 2012
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Buffet

Last Saturday, I was hanging out my BFF at a new place. We have been observing this place quite sometime now but have not try it out yet. So, we decided to have it try for this month outing. Here we are, Umai-Ya's Japanese Buffet that serve only at Saturday and Sunday Lunch. Reservation is a must to confirm your seat. Umai-Ya Japanese Restaurant have 3 outlets in KL but only Uptown outlet serve Buffet. What is the price? It is RM58++ per person which is RM67.28 nett. I think the price is kind of reasonable compare to other Japanese Buffet nowadays. The buffet start from 11.30am-2.30pm.

The place was quite big. There are 2 floors, we were placed on the 2nd floors. My BFF reach around 11.45am while I am a bit late that day. The place was quite nice and was not packed at all. At least we can have peaceful meal. All food and beverages are order from the menu. There are quiet a variety of Japanese food but not much compare to other Japanese Buffet in KL area.

Here are some of the food photos( cant upload all of it):

Ice Cream- (Chocolate, Green tea, Wasabi and Vanilla Flavour)
Look at the ice-cream, it is melted when it arrived to our table. We waited for more than 20 minutes for this and I guess the waitress just left it at the counter there. Anyway, I like green tea the most. Wasabi flavour was weird but good to try it out.

From those photos you can see that the potions are quite small, it is a good way to save us from wasting and we are able to order more. But I did feel that the quality and taste wasn't that good compare to its ala carte menu I used to had during weekdays. But my BFF love this place as they still think that the price is very reasonable for Japanese Buffet.
